These terms govern your use of pdxelevatorsafety.com, operated by PDX Elevator Safety Testing & Standby, LLC. By using this website you accept them.

These terms cover this website and the free document reviews described below. They are not our service agreement. Testing, standby, repair, maintenance and modernization work is performed under a separate written proposal or contract signed by both parties. Where that signed agreement and this page differ, the signed agreement governs.

We write about Oregon and Washington elevator requirements: permit cycles, Category 1 and Category 5 testing, fire recall, maintenance record obligations, because building owners are rarely told any of it plainly. It is written carefully and kept current to the best of our knowledge.

It is still general information. It is not a code interpretation, not a legal opinion, and not a substitute for the authority having jurisdiction. Requirements change, they vary by equipment type and installation date, and the inspector assigned to your building has the final say. For an authoritative answer, consult the Oregon Building Codes Division, the Washington Department of Labor & Industries, or your own licensed professional.

Nothing on this website creates a contractor-client relationship. Reading a page here does not make us responsible for a compliance decision you make on the strength of it.

We offer to read maintenance agreements, modernization proposals, repair quotes and state inspection reports at no charge, whether or not you become a client. That offer is genuine, and these conditions come with it:

• It is an informed opinion, not a legal review. We are elevator people, not attorneys. Contract questions with real money attached deserve a lawyer as well.
• Our reading is based only on the documents you send. We cannot account for terms, side agreements or equipment conditions we have not seen.
• We may decline a review, and we may stop one, without giving a reason.
• Sending us a document does not create a contract between us and does not oblige either of us to anything further.
• Decisions you make after our review remain yours.

How we handle what you send is described in our privacy policy. In short: we do not share it with your incumbent contractor, and we delete it on request.

Figures given on this website or in early conversation are indicative. A binding price comes only in a written proposal identifying your building and equipment, and it is subject to the validity period stated on it. Scope discovered after a proposal is issued (conditions not visible at survey, for instance) is handled by written change order.

PDX Elevator Safety Testing & Standby, LLC is licensed, bonded and insured in Oregon under CCB# 254296, EM27. We perform work only within the scope of our license and the jurisdictions where we are entitled to work.

The text, images and page designs on this site belong to PDX Elevator Safety Testing & Standby, LLC. You are welcome to read them, print them for your own building’s use, and quote them with attribution and a link. Republishing substantial portions commercially, or reproducing them to promote a competing service, is not permitted without written consent.

Any manufacturer or company names that may appear on this site belong to their respective owners. We are an independent, union signatory contractor and not a branch or dealer of Otis, KONE, Schindler or TK. Where we represent a component manufacturer for modernization work, we disclose that relationship when recommending equipment.

Where we link to a state agency, a code resource or another organization, we do it because it is useful. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or their handling of your information.

We make no guarantee that this website will be available uninterrupted or error-free. This website is not a channel for reporting an emergency. If someone is trapped in an elevator, call your emergency line and the number in the car. To reach us urgently, call 503-810-0834.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, PDX Elevator Safety Testing & Standby, LLC is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of this website or from information published on it. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, and nothing here limits our obligations under a signed service agreement, which are governed by that agreement.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, without regard to conflict of law principles.

We may update these terms. The effective date above shows when they last changed, and the version published here is the one that applies.
